Piping Inspection

Piping Inspection Scope & Witness Testing Checklist

QIEST inspect piping ranging from large diameter to smaller diameter used in the Petroleum, Gas and Chemical process plants and related industries. Our engineers and inspectors follow Piping Inspection Code requirements and guidelines to identify the overall quality standard and damages such as degradation and deformation. QIEST equipment quality inspection services ranging Piping fabrication and installation are paramount to industry and are challenging to maintain when using traditional NDT methods with unreliable production quality standards (API 570, API 574, ASME, CSWIP and ASNT NDT Level III SNT-TC-1A).

INSPECTION CHECKLIST

  • Verify and review Mandatory Certificates and Reports such as, Material Certificate, Calibration Certificate, Material Test Report, Daily Heat Testing Report, Ultrasonic Examination Report, Radiographic Interpretation Examination Report, Mill Sheet, etc.
  • Verify and review Inspection Documents, Engineering Specification & Drawings such as, Agreed Inspection Scope, Special Inspection Instruction, Inspection Checklist, Testing Procedures, Pipe Specification & drawings, Pipe Spool Specification & drawings, Painting Specification Sheet, Purchase Documents, Pipe Arrangement, Isometric Drawing, etc.
  • Inspect and verify all mandatory national/international production Standards, equipment marking and safety marks
  • Verify storage of piping shall be under cover and protected against ground and carbon steel and stainless steel shall be isolate to avoid any cross contamination
  • Traceability and Marking shall be according to the agreed standards

DIMENSION CHECK TO VERIFY AND CHECK

  • Dimension shall be accurate as per confirmed specification, to assure final installation (lengths, diameters, thickness, locations of fittings, grade, etc.)
  • Verify dimension of pipe fitting in accordance with design and specifications.
  • Verify dimension and location of pipe fitting holes

VISUAL INSPECTION VERIFY AND CHECK

  • Internal cleaning of pipe shall be done by hydro flushing or hydro jetting
  • Pipe tap connections, shall be drilled through the pipe wall and be smooth inside, if available
  • Threading shall be carried out after bending or any heat treatment
  • Inspect for damages, dent, corrosions, marking, strength, paint, etc.

CHECK AND VERIFY WELDERS & WELDING

  • Welders & welding procedure specifications and qualification records shall be in accordance with applicable standards
  • Inspect welds are matched with approved numbering system
  • Inspect mounted equipment shall be removed prior to welding or heat treatment
  • Welding inspection to verify surface porosity, misalignment, welding cleanliness, tack weld, slag, cracks, weld layers sharp ridges, undercut, over crown, welder stamp, field weld number, etc.

CHECK AND VERIFY PAINTING INSPECTION

  • Verify painting surface shall be prepared as per specifications and requirements
  • Verify before coating surface shall be cleaned by dry sand with accurate surface profile height
  • Verify painted surface should be free from bubbles, cracks, rust, foreign materials, thickness of layers, etc.
  • Verify machine surface shall be protecting from blasting
  • Verify after bare material surface preparation, prime coat must be applied within defined hours and at least before re rusting occurs
  • Verify color code and shade should match with agreed standards
